In December of ’99 New Promise Church began with a few families in the home of Curt and Rhonda Edwards. Both Curt and Rhonda knew they were called to pastor but they also knew they were not called to fill the mold of a typical pastor or church. More than anything else they knew that prayer and fasting would have to be foundation of the “church” God was building. This church is New Promise Christian Fellowship.
From the onset there has been a huge emphasis on prayer, including daily morning prayer and once a month 12 hour watch of prayer and worship, along with fasting. In the first month of the establishment of the church, New Promise saw the Lord move in a mighty way through healings, miracles, tangible signs, salvation, and people being filled with the Spirit. They saw the power of prayer and fasting to release God’s presence and purposes and were ruined for anything less.
Pastors Curt and Rhonda have long desired to see a 24/7 house of prayer to be raised up in Arizona. And through the years have been exposed to such men as Mike Bickle and Lou Engle who carry such a heart for prayer, fasting, and revival. These men and their ministries have brought much clarity and understanding to what New Promise felt it was called to do. And just in the past few months the Lord has really confirmed this desire and vision in their hearts to raise up a house of prayer. New Promise is still in the beginning stages of walking this vision out but nevertheless is dedicated to raising up a people who are intimate lovers of Christ who through their holy living, prayer, and fasting will build a dwelling place for God upon the earth.
